Sports Kinesio Taping (CPD)

Sports Dry Cupping (CPD)

Cupping therapy is a form of therapy where suction cups are placed around various parts of the body.  The main principle behind cupping is that the suction created encourages blood and lymph flow to promote the healing of a broad range of medical ailments.  There are two main types of cupping - dry and wet.  Dry cupping is when the therapy relies solely on the creation of suction.  In dry cupping there are two main ways that people are treated.  Flash cupping is where the cups are placed and removed very quickly without being moved around.  The other technique is known by a few different names, such as sliding cupping or gliding cupping.  Cups are placed on the body and moved around without breaking contact with the skin, increasing circulation.  A one-day Sports Dry Cupping workshop for qualified sports therapists would generally demonstrate mechanical cupping and focus on manual application techniques.

Functional Mobility Screening (CPD)

Functional Mobility Screening (FMS) is a grading system created to assess and document functional movement patterns.  By assessing these patterns, functional limitations and asymmetries are readily identified.  There are benefits of utilising this form of orthopaedic screening in order to reduce potential injury from poor training patterns.  FMS is equally effective in rehabilitation as well as conditioning because it targets the weak link in movement patterns.  This is usually a one day programme for qualified sports therapists / health fitness professionals.
